In his State of the Union address, President Obama reiterated his commitment to acting on climate change for the sake of future generations. America’s Arctic is ground zero for the devastating impacts of climate change – warming at about twice the rate of the rest of the world – and offshore drilling can only exacerbate the problem.
It's time for President Obama to take action on climate change and a big step in that direction will be saying no to Arctic Ocean drilling. Please add your name to our petition asking him to suspend Arctic drilling.

America’s Arctic is ground zero for climate change. The indicators are everywhere: permafrost is melting, shorelines are washing away forcing communities to relocate and we’ve seen record low ice cover in the Arctic Ocean. To add insult to injury, Shell Oil and other Big Oil companies want to begin drilling in the Arctic Ocean which would release an additional 15.8 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide into our atmosphere.
Shell Oil had a laundry list of mishaps during their 2012 drilling season, culminating with the grounding of the drill rig Kulluk near Kodiak Island. Shell has proven it is not ready to drill in Arctic conditions.
President Obama, your climate legacy starts by saying no to Arctic Ocean drilling.
